250 Williams Street Suite 400 Atlanta, GA 30303 News release Amanda Boyd January 31, 2011 (586) 246-1518 [email protected] Shelby Township Fights Back Against Cancer SHELBY TWP, Mich.- Local residents rally together May 21-22 at Riverbends Park to celebrate those who have survived cancer, honor those who lost their battle, and raise funds for further cancer research to fight back against the disease. Relay for Life is becoming an annual ritual throughout the country since the first event located at Tacoma, Washington in 1985. “Anyone can participate in Relay for Life. Friends, families, neighbors, classmates, and sports teams can form teams” says Maggie Conn, promotions chair for the Shelby Township Relay for Life. “No matter who you are, there is a place for you at Relay.” Everybody has the opportunity to become a part of this worldwide movement. To get involved: join a team or take the initiative to begin a team of their own. Upon registering with a team, every team member is required to pay a ten dollar commitment/registration fee but encouraged to reach a donation amount of one hundred dollars to go toward the fight back against cancer via funding further research. “Supporters of Relay for Life empower the American Cancer Society to fulfill its mission,” stated Jessica Swanson, Accounting chair of Shelby Townships’ Relay for Life “and that helps us all move closer to our ultimate goal: a world with less cancer and more birthdays.” One hundred percent of all donations and funds raised at each event support the education of the general public and the maintenance of ACS’s existing efforts, such as: Quitline®, nutrition/health plans for patients as well as survivors, telephone support lines, and online support communities. The society has achieved the status of the largest private funder of cancer research which has lead to over forty-four researchers attaining the highest scientific achievement, the Nobel Prize. Relay for Life is an event that celebrates life, remembers those who have lost their battle, and encourages people to be actively involved in fight against the disease. The American Cancer Society is encourages all who are able to get involved on May 21-22 at Shelby Township’s Riverbends Park Relay for Life in addition to the general fight against cancer in hopes that one day a cure will be discovered and suffering will end. ### |
Baseball Camp Press Release
Dow Diamond
825 E. Main St. Midland, MI 48640 News release Amanda Boyd February 22, 2011 (586) 246-1518 [email protected] Great Lakes Loons Host Youth Baseball Clinics MIDLAND, Mich.- Farm Bureau Insurance partners with the Great Lakes Loons to give back to the community’s youth ages 12 and under. They will host three pregame baseball clinics located at Dow Diamond May 16, June 6, and June 27. “With the economy in its current state, it is tough to find affordable activities for the kids” says Theresa Harding, mother of three. “My kids look forward to the Loons baseball clinics every year and I look forward to an affordable day of fun.” The only prerequisite requirement to participate in the clinic is proof of a game ticket schedule for later that day. This helps the local families enjoy a day at Dow Diamond without breaking the bank. All clinics will take place from 11a.m. to 1p.m. and will feature instruction on how to pitch, hit, and base-run. These are all very important skills for younger baseball players to practice in order to improve their overall ability to play the game. “Our goal for these clinics is to inspire the youth of the community” says Chris Mundhenk, vice-president of marketing and entertainment. “Our players act as role models for the kids.” An autograph session with the Great Lakes Loons players is scheduled to follow the clinic. This allows the young baseball fans to interact with their mentors outside of the specific plays of the game. Each clinic participant is given a baseball, courtesy of Farm Bureau Insurance, to collect their favorite players’ autographs. The Great Lakes Loons’ pregame baseball clinics make for an affordable family day at Dow Diamond. The participants learn both baseball and life lessons that inspire and motivate. For more information on the pregame youth baseball clinics or to book a group to attend a clinic call (989) 837-BALL. ### |

Junior PR Campaign
This plans book is arguably less developed than my senior plans book. I chose to incorporate this into my writing samples as a reference to my improvement as a writer from one semester to the next. Please click the link below to access my Junior Plansbook for WMU's Sindecuse Health Center.
